Tropical Hideaway

Wow Wow Wow what an amazing place, almost do not want to tell to many people about this beautiful hotel perched above the stunning bays set in gorgeous grounds and gardens. Having previously stayed on the island we wanted our next visit to include a pool and what an amazing pool it is. We spend many a days perched on one of the swim up bar stools sipping chilled rose from the pool fridge. Totally chilled and relaxing atmosphere with plenty of private space to enjoy. The rooms are immaculate and equipped with everything you could possible need - beach towels, pool towels, robes etc. The well stocked shop ensures you are able to have a stocked fridge of food for enjoying a breakfast out on your terrace or balcony. Prices in the shop are very competitive with the main supermarkets and it save you lugging shopping up to your accommodation. The homemade rotis is to die for ! There is also a lovely selection of chilled wines and beer on offer. Just a short taxi ride down to the main town makes it a great location to relax and enjoy breathtaking views but still within walking or taxi distance to go out in the evenings, we loved it. We were made so welcome by the hosts - felt like we had known them for ages. The whole team of staff who passionately look after the grounds, rooms and public areas also deserve a mention for making the whole experience so magical. Tropical Hideaway really is a special place, we can see why so many people return and we certainly will.

Amazing attention to detail; including the view! We spent three weeks at Tropical Hideaway: a Picture Perfect, “Old World Caribbean” Paradise. The owners have perfected every detail to ensure that you enjoy an exceptional stay… and they continue to deliver exceptional service every day of your stay. Tropical Hideaway arranged for Gunno to meet us at the ferry in Bequia for our transfer to our home for the next 3 weeks. Gunno is an amazing person. He is very professional..prompt and at your service for any and all transportation needs 24/7. Our arrival at Tropical Hideaway: Guests are welcomed by the owners with a warm hug and a chilled glass of Martin’s homemade rum punch! The property: The grounds are immaculate, the buildings are architecturally impressive and words cannot describe the views. Each unique accommodation has an equally amazing view. Food and beverages: We enjoyed mourning coffee [we aren’t breakfast eaters], several lunches and dinners in the Penthouse because we had a full kitchen, a grill, a great store on property and the views are better than any restaurant on the island. I enjoyed cooking in the open air kitchen in the Penthouse; but if you prefer to eat out, there are many dining options. You can take the lovely walking path to walk to many of the restaurants. All the restaurants we visited were open air. Many of the restaurants are rather casual and specialize in local cuisine. The service is island time in most restaurants; plan to relax and enjoy a two hour lunch or dinner. Martin and Julie: Excellent hosts and a wealth of knowledge!!! In addition to making the best rum punch, Martin is a talented chef. During our stay, Martin invited all the guests for a sundowner and served Martin’s freshly made focaccia. We were also invited to a dinner party one evening, hosted by Martin and Julie. Two couples who have stayed at the resort for 14 years straight were visiting so Martin made Scotch Eggs, Focaccia, and fresh fruits to enjoy during cocktails and served a lovely salad and a shrimp and fish pie. I never eat dessert; but I could not resist trying Martin’s delectable dessert. Julie is concierge extraordinaire. Julie is happy to book excursions, restaurant reservations and transfer arrangements for you. Everyone knows Julie when she calls; and they are happy to provide the best service for Tropical Hideaway guests. The best thing Martin and Julie do is allow you to tailor your vacation to what makes you happy. You can mingle with guests or you can enjoy private time. With a maximum number of 10 guests; the resort never feels crowded. Many times you can enjoy the pool by yourself. We found the guests to be friendly and happy to engage and just as happy to give you private, alone time. Not sure how Martin and Julie are able to create a perfect place for each and every guest to enjoy their idea of a perfect vacation; but they have discovered the secret. Most of the guests we met were repeat visitors which says it all… Check out their well designed website that provides every detail..and if you have a question…Martin and Julie are very responsive!

Another fantastic two week stay in our favourite place. Bequia really is special. If you want Michelin starred restaurants, an array of designer shops and nightclubs it is definitely NOT for you. If you want a lush tropical island, undeveloped, beautiful beaches, great local food and a couple of bars then you'll love it. And in our opinion, Tropical Hideaway is the best place to stay on the best island. I leave a review about this place every year, and basically nothing has changed. Martin and Julie maintain the same high standards year after year. All their staff, in particular, Zee and Ann-Marie are lovely, the tropical gardens surrounding TH are beautiful and the infinity pool is wonderful. We stay in the Penthouse, which has truly amazing, constantly changing views, is really comfortable, spotlessly clean and has it's own mini gym! All of the above is why we have already booked our 2026 visit.....
