Tropicana Lagoon Resort

We had a wonderful holiday at Tropicana. The studios are roomy and beautiful with a little kitchen and have spectacular views over the lagoon. We loved sitting on our balcony and watch the local life on the opposite shore. The restaurant's menu is on the smaller side but everything we had was well prepared and tasty. Sometimes we had to wait a little longer than what we are used to from home but hey, it's island time. The staff is super friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We would go back in a heartbeat and are already looking at dates later this year.

New manager Brian, is starting to upgrade the resort. Our room was very tired, a reno is overdue. I believe him when he says that we won't be disappointed next time. Staff are fantastic. We enjoyed our stay, we walked to the supermarket. But needed a bus to go further. Nothing was too much trouble for Sarah at reception, Brian and the kitchen staff. Don't expect a quick meal, Island time! Didn't worry us.

The photos and description on Booking.com and the website are nothing like what we experienced. The level of communication and care was terrible. Food was constantly missing from the menu and you were told after the fact. Rooms were in really bad condition, the bed in room 3 was so disturbingly noisy you couldn’t sleep unless you didn’t move. Tea, coffee, milk and toilet paper was not provided or replaced when used you had to ask for it or buy it from the supermarket. Glass bathroom shower door would not close as it was stuck to the floor. No toaster provided. The lagoon is dirty and full of rubbish. The only good thing we have to say is the aircon was good and the locals across the way were awesome. Some honest communication about the property and at the property and cheaper rates would go a long way.
