Tropicana Suites

We rented the two-bedroom suite and I was amazed by the quaint style of this building. It is a home away from home with its traditional Filipino home interior. There are two balconies and we were blessed with an amazing view with one while the other was blocked by the next building. The church and Robinson's mall is just a walking distance. The free breakfast is amazing too. I just wished there was an actual restaurant inside the building. The heater works fine and the staff cleans our room everyday. I highly recommend this place if you're staying in Ermita, Manila.

Spacious suits with balcony. 1/2 of the hotel is renovated, the other half not yet. Make sure you stay in the renovated area where the room name is: “1 bedroom superior Suite”. It has a functioning clean and equipped kitchen. Full bathroom with tub. Bedroom with TV and some good channels, makeup area. Living room has sofa with table, dining table with 3 chairs, desk with one chair. Robinson mall is only 400 meter. Bars, nightlife, gentleman bars. restaurants and massage parlors everywhere in the surrounding streets, mainly in Pedro Jil and Mabini street. The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. This is not a five star hotel but it deserves 5 stars for location, room size and price relation. Sadly the air ins are old and that said, pretty noisy. We used only the A/C in the living room tgat can cool the whole suite.

Overall good experience but the safe did not work and wasn't comfortable with telling them what room number we were staying in every time we left (not sure why they were asking...) I've heard stories of rooms being raided so this made me uncomfortable at the thought of them knowing we were not present in our room. As far as I can tell though nothing was rummaged through but because of this we declined all room service for the duration of our stay. The breakfast restaurant had good food and good service and the staff were friendly. We stayed in one room where when you turned on the shower nearly the entire bathroom had a puddle from either a poor design or the drain not working. We moved rooms to a nicer one with a kitchen and bathtub, but the bathtub was a little small--minor in the grand scheme of it all but definitely not big enough to call it a luxury bathtub or luxury in general, as well as for some reason at times we had trouble getting cold water--strange and a first for me in my lifetime.
