The facilities at the hotel are quite outdated, which was immediately noticeable upon arrival. The view from the room was rather underwhelming, failing to provide the scenic beauty one might hope for. The gym on the first floor was particularly disappointing. It was unhygienic, with the entire room shrouded in darkness and a pervasive, unpleasant odor of stale sweat. The equipment was old and mostly non-functional. For instance, the treadmill did not even power on, and the other machines were sticky to the touch, clearly indicating a lack of regular cleaning. The atmosphere was so uninviting that it was impossible to enjoy a workout. Regular and thorough cleaning is highly recommended to improve the gym's condition. The breakfast, although buffet-style, was prepared in limited quantities, just enough for the number of guests. This resulted in a lack of visual appeal and variety, making the breakfast experience less enjoyable. On a positive note, the hotel's location is quite convenient. It is close to major attractions and easily accessible, which made getting around the area much easier. Overall, while the location is advantageous, the outdated facilities and lack of cleanliness in the gym, along with the uninspiring breakfast, significantly detracted from the overall experience. Regular maintenance and improvements are necessary to enhance the quality of stay for future guests.
In its heyday this hotel would have been wonderful but it has definitely seen better days and presumably no money to upgrade. Room was large and the bed and bathroom very clean. Unfortunately when we moved the furniture to play cards we could see debris not removed and skirtings hadn't had a clean for a long time. Breakfast was ok. 1st morning the cooked food didn't even have the burners on underneath. The omelette bar was good. Staff first day only had one lady smile but all seemed a lot happier on the 2nd. One bedside light can't be plugged in by the bed, but didn't work anyway. It was a shower over the bath which is not so good for older people but the water pressure was good and plenty of hot water. The WiFi was flaky at times. The reception staff and porter were very friendly. The area was ok but not a lot in the immediate area. Don't believe the amenities blurb. Only a breakfast available, certainly no evening or afternoon tea. Think most of the info is also very out of date.
This hotel felt like something from the 1980's. However, I slept well. The beds weren't very comfortable but there were blackout curtains, AC and it was quiet. The staff were friendly, check in and out was speedy. The location is a bit far from the tourist area, about a 15 minute walk.
