I stayed at the W from Thursday, July 3rd- Monday, July 7th and have to put this as one of the most phenomenal stays I have ever had. I arrived at around 2:15PM and had nothing short of a smooth check in. Reception was very kind in welcoming me and giving a brief layout of the hotel amenities and what not. I had a friend joining me 3 days late in my 5 day stay and she had 0 issues checking in while I was not present. The lobby is dark, but glows beautifully, especially in the night at the “Living Room” cocktail bar which serves delicious and smooth cocktails. My Room, had a very modern taste with a beautiful overview over city center. Loved the little sofa near the window that overlooked the city, the desk behind my bed, the options of pillows laid out on my bed. All in all, one of the most beautiful room’s I have ever had. The Pool was really nice and had great views of the city skyscrapers which was nice. “Wet Bar” had some decent drinks and staff was friendly. “Living Room” was such a nice way to pregame before my nights out. Amazing cocktails. I loved the way the Espresso martini came with a cannoli. All of the fruit cocktails hit pretty smooth too. The layout of the skeletons on the bar was distinct and cool, but the dj on Friday’s & Saturday’s gave the place a little more life. Definitely will stay in Philly my next time again coming from NYC!
I had a really nice stay at this hotel. I loved the room & the modern touches in it, but the staff really made the experience stand out for me. I stayed in two different rooms and they were both immaculate. My only real complaint is that the shower was extremely slippery and did not have great water pressure. I also wasn't thrilled with the beverage I had at the pool bar, but that can be subjective. I would definitely stay here again, and I appreciated all of the little touches that made this hotel unique from the celebration of local artists to the vibe of the room decor and moody smart lighting. Concierge staff even called my room phone to offer me an appetizer, dessert, or champagne on the house. Housekeeping used Google translate to overcome the language barrier. I enjoyed exploring the hotel and the 3rd floor had a spacious area for conducting business or having meetings where I didn't encounter a single other person. There were plenty of areas to sit down & plug in a laptop that were well decorated and comfortable with plenty of seating choices and charging ports. The view of the city from the window was nice. I have some physical limitations and requested a bar for the shower at check-in so that I didn't hurt myself, so I was able to stay in both a regular room with a view and an accessible room when I extended my trip for a night last minute.
Stayed one Saturday night in June ($640 with tax) in what was labeled a “premium” room, though it was really just a standard corner room. The TV didn’t work, and the lighting setup was confusing. There was no mini fridge with space for personal items—only stocked with things the hotel wants you to buy. The decor was nice and the staff inside the hotel were friendly, but overall the stay didn’t justify the cost. The staff - except for pool security - deserve 5 stars, but the hotel itself does not. The bathroom had no door, just a thin curtain, offering no privacy at all. This was especially surprising given the romantic or sex-appeal theme suggested by the sex toys and “pleasure games” for sale in the room. Nothing kills the mood quite like having no bathroom door. The wet deck was small, extremely crowded, and open to the public for expensive cabanas. Security at the pool was unfriendly and very strict, reportedly due to a past incident involving a weapon. That alone should be reason enough to limit access to hotel and spa guests only. Overall, a stylish space but lacking comfort, privacy, and value.
