Lovely Stay at York Hotel – Great Location and Comfort I stayed at York Hotel for 4 days and had a truly pleasant experience. Located in a peaceful and serene neighbourhood just off Orchard Road, the hotel offers a nice balance of tranquility and accessibility—only about a 10-minute walk to the vibrant Orchard shopping belt and Lucky Plaza. The property is clean, well-maintained, and has a quiet charm to it. The staff are helpful and courteous, always ready to assist with a smile. My room was comfortable and tidy, which made for a very relaxing stay. While the breakfast spread was average and could use a bit more variety, the overall quality of food was good. The swimming pool area is lovely, and though the gym is on the smaller side, it’s adequate for a quick workout. Overall, a very nice 4-star property that exceeded my expectations in many ways. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would gladly return.
Despite staying here multiple times, hoping to see improvement, York Hotel continues to fall short in key areas. After my previous stay, I returned again just one month later — and unfortunately, the same problems were still there. While the location and pricing remain practical — especially if you're spending most of your time outside, like visiting Mount Elizabeth Hospital — the overall guest experience hasn’t changed for the better. Service issues at the front desk persist. Staff frequently talk among themselves in their own language even while assisting guests, and they often handle requests with impatience and poor attitude. Calls from in-house guests are answered bluntly and with zero warmth. Mistakes are met with silence — not even a basic “sorry” or any hint of accountability. What’s more telling is how hotel management responds to guest reviews online. There’s rarely a sincere apology — the replies feel generic, defensive, and completely lack empathy. This shows that even written communication fails to demonstrate genuine concern or a willingness to improve. The staff, especially the front office team, seriously need proper etiquette and guest-handling training. These are not isolated experiences — the poor attitude has been consistent across multiple visits, including a return just one month apart. If you're only looking for a bed to sleep in and plan to spend most of your time out, it might still serve the purpose. But if you care about being treated with respect and receiving professional hospitality, this hotel is not the place.
I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. Unfortunately, the check-in experience was disappointing. The receptionist I think senior manager wasn’t very welcoming and seemed confused bcz the name on my Agoda booking was a nickname instead of my full legal name and saying I can’t check-in. I’ve been using Agoda for over 5 years and usually just show my booking and personal ID without any issues. This time, she kept questioning me and insisted on seeing proof of payment, including the card number I used to book. It felt like she didn’t believe I was the one who made the reservation, even though I provided the booking number. She said if I couldn’t show the payment details, she wouldn’t allow me to check in. Lol! Maybe it was the way I dressed or their protocol. Who knows? But seriously, there was no sense of welcome or friendliness toward customers at all, and it made me feel pretty uncomfortable. Other than that, the room was fine, spacious and clean. Anyway, I did love their mini water dispenser in the room. It’s super cute! However, the location is a bit far from MRT and you have to walk more than 10minutes.
