Zazil Retreat

We loved Zazil. Bungalows with fantastic ocean view. Very nice pool area. Excellent breakfast. Super host Christa and staff.

We've stayed here in November, the views are super dreamy, it's super quiet and peaceful. We had the pool to ourselves most of the time. The view from our little villa was amazing, the hammocks everywhere are so nice! Only thing we didn't like was the breakfast... portions are super small and they only had papaya marmalade for on the bread, the both of us don't like papaya at all so we had just bread with a bit of butter. Rest of our stay was great!

This was a negative experience overall! The owner is blunt and rude. All towels shared with us (except from the beach ones) were either dirty or torn! The owner demanded we pay her in cash, even though we had booked the room through Booking, not privately and even though the official website of the hotel states you can pay by any card you want! The booking included breakfast! However, to our surprise this only included bread, butter and papaya marmalade (which we don’t like) and a small plate of fruit pieces. You had to pay extra in order to have omelet or eggs which is really bizarre! There is no hot water in the shower and we were not informed about that. Overall the price does not align with the price we paid and the owner lacks communication and client service skills. After we gave her a 5/10 on booking reviews, the owner messaged me (!!) to complain and started saying that we have lied etc without addressing any of the constructive feedback we had given her. Its a real shame as the view is great but we would never stay there again! Go to El Alquimista instead - they offer great service!
