We didn't stay in the hotel but had lunch at the hotel's restaurant. It's a lovely designer place near the lake and surrounded by trees. The menu offers a good variety of modern Lithuanian/Italian food and local beers, nice and tasty kids menu options. looking forward to staying there sometime in the future.
This is one of our best places to stay with the family, however, this time we had a horrible service. My child of 4 years had a fever at night. When tried to get a medicine, figured out that the receptionists are not there at night. When called an emergency line at 1 AM, she answered very annoyed and said they did not have any medicine at the hotel. Of course, this is the first time I hear that the hotel does not have emergency phramaceutical kit, but more so, I was very frustrated that she did not even want to help and sounded annoyed that we disturbed her sleep. SPA was also not great. The water in the swimming pool is ICE COLD, the water to drink that is offered was also ICE COLD., the temperature of the water was beyond normal. Overall experience was bad. Paying almost 200 EUR and getting service below average is extremely disappointing. Will think twice about returning and would not recommend.
We didn’t stay at the hotel, this review is only for the restaurant. Let’s get the good things out of the way first. The location was a beautiful spot and the views were fantastic, they also had a variety of toys in a children’s corner which was useful in our case for reasons that will soon become evident. Now for the bad: worst service ever and one of the worst meals my family had in a long time. We arrived at the restaurant just after 1pm and asked if the restaurant was available, we were told to go through, no problem. We sat down at a table and ordered food within 10 minutes of arriving, then I had to wrestle to change my toddler’s diaper in a tiny toilet not fitted with a changing station, off to a bad start but these things sometimes happen. We went back to the table and were waiting for around 30 minutes before my toddler got restless and we went to the children’s corner to play. Another half an hour passed and we were getting really annoyed because the restaurant was really not busy, only 4-5 tables occupied and we were all waiting for food for about an hour, so after another 10 minutes or so, we asked the waitress if it would be possible to have the toddler’s food brought out first, so that she could eat while we kept waiting and she said sure, I’ll go check. Less than 5 minutes later, the waitress brought out the kid’s food and we started feeding her, and a couple of minutes later, the waitress brought the rest of the food out. We ordered the fish of the week (in this case perch), the chicken skewers, a burger and the traditional Lithuanian pancakes for the kid. The only thing warm was the kid’s food, the rest was stone cold, like it had been sitting on a table for half an hour. The house lemonade was terrible, no lemon flavour, just watery and plain, the perch was tasteless, the chicken looked pale and unappetising on top of being tasteless and the burger was mediocre at best, totalling 85€ for the experience. The other tables were served around the same time, so the wait was the same. The terrace was also completely overrun with wasps/hornets and it seemed that nothing had been done by the restaurant to alleviate the situation. The waitress didn’t apologise, didn’t come to check if we wanted more drinks after such a long wait, didn’t advise us in advance of the long waiting time and was just generally hanging out in the bar area making herself busy with nothing, and when we left, she was avoiding us and trying to not acknowledge us when we said goodbye. We will never eat in this restaurant again and we recommend that nobody else does.
