What a convenient location to the beaches, like Sapphire, Blue Chairs and Green Chairs and so very close to Malacon. Condos are furnished with kitchen utensils, coffee makers, microwave, full sized refrigerator and clean. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable with topper. Bathrooms convenient and clean. Hot and cold water works perfectly. The air conditioning worked flawlessly even on the hottest of days. Pool is clean and pool area private to the public and one can hear the waves and see beach activity from the pool or pool deck that has lots of lounge chairs. Towels are easily exchanged. Off season one enters thru parking garage area but can exit thru main front entrance on other street. Many rooms offer an incredible ocean, beach, and Malacon view. Some rooms street view but pleasant. Staff is all friendly and almost always someone is at entrance to buildings and if not immediately there very close by. Cabs often parked and available instantly or easy taxi pickup. Most condos accessed via elevator, some front condos require using stairs but those are covered from rain or sun. Felt secure even though right in the middle of things and right where we wanted to be. Free Wifi worked better than we expected. Look forward to coming back.
We’ve stayed in the penthouse on the 7th floor (5-star rating and rented via VRBO) three years in a row from 2017 - 2019 but stopped coming to PV due to the pandemic and family issues, but finally returned in 2025. BOOKING: Because we weren’t with a group of friends this time, we booked directly with the property for a 1 bedroom unit which was on the sixth floor. Email correspondence with Iriana, who seemed to manage the property along with a sister property south of Zona Romantica (Costa Sur Resort), was constant with fairly immediate response from beginning to end, but with a BIG hiccup in the middle. ARRIVAL: Our ride dropped us off in the parking garage and a female staff member who happened to be in the area or was summoned, seemed surprised we were there. With a confused look on her face, she asked us if we had reservations, which we did. We left our luggage with the male attendant/bellman in the garage as she hesitantly escorted us up to the reception office in the (working) elevator. CHECK-IN: Lourdes, who was probably the property manager, greeted us and said they had our reservation but that there was a problem. None of the rooms have working air conditioning due to a power issue that started 2 days prior to our arrival (other reviews I’ve read mentioned this issue a year ago). We got no notification of the issue. Their solution was to wait for us to arrive then relocate us to their sister property, Costa Sur Resort, which is almost 2 miles south of Zona Romantica. That was a no-go. Anyone who stayed in Zona Romantica knows its charm, non-commercialism and walking distance to the beach, tons of local restaurants and shops. THE ROOM: We decided to check out the room (# 600) before making a decision. The room was supposedly cleaned but was really not ready for guests. The balcony was the nastiest area with bird poop on the railing, floor and a waterfall of it coming down the building’s side. There was also no furniture on the balcony, but for good reason as the balcony’s wall was so high, it would impede any view. And without air conditioning, it was miserably hot as this was in June. Oddly, the lights were working and electric clocks were on but blinking. We returned to the office. Lourdes was willing to help us find another place but we decided to do our own homework. My spouse questioned why the office had air conditioning and was told that it’s the main building where the rooms are that had the issue. Okay?? THE RESULT: Long story short and almost 3 hours later, we found a neighboring property, much smaller, years newer, night and day cleaner, with a living room, kitchen, higher view and with working air conditioning for a few hundred more for our week’s stay. We did get a full refund which is why this isn’t a 1-star review. We also emailed Iriana if they could compensate us the difference in price but haven’t heard back and didn’t intend to. OVERALL: The building’s appearance looks okay for the area but obviously its internal organs are decrepit and in need of major surgery. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Farewell, One Beach Street!
The pros of the hotel is that it is right in the middle of everything. You’re right across the beach and next to so many restaurants. The restaurants right next to the hotel are expensive so I recommend traveling a bit further for equally delicious and much cheaper priced food. The cons. The waves in the beach you’re right next to are too strong to swim in. Then there’s the hotel itself. Puerto Vallarta is an extremely hot and humid city and yet this hotel does not have air conditioning. All there are are two very old and weak ceiling fans. Every night I was there was a struggle to fall asleep due to the constant sweating from the humidity. Not too mention the mattresses were very uncomfortable. Also the room service or rather the lack thereof. The whole about a week I was there the maid only ever visited our room once.
