Amrâth Hotel Alkmaar

Clean, comfortable room in a beautiful town. Service was exceptional. It did get a bit warm in my room and there was no air conditioning, as a heads up for those travelling from the US where AC more common.

Helpful friendly staff. Started breakfast early just for our group having a gymnastics competition nearby very early on a Sunday. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Nice thick pillows. Breakfast was great- lots of options including scrambled eggs, pancakes, pastries.... Parking is paid but you do get a reserved spot once you check in. Gorgeous view. Would definitely return. My only complaint is it was too warm in the room, especially for first week of April and the walls were thin, we heard people being loud in the halls.

We stayed for two nights as a couple and had a disappointing experience. We booked a single bed by mistake and asked to change rooms, but reception said the hotel was fully booked although it seemed quite empty during our stay The room was very basic for over €300 The fridge didn’t work, the curtains didn’t block the morning sun, and there was no air conditioning or even a fan, even though it was 25 30° and the room faced the sun all day The location is good, but it was very noisy due to traffic, and since there was no AC we had to sleep with the window open which made it hard to rest. Just a headsup not all rooms have AC which can really affect your comfort during warm weather.
