Courtyard by Marriott Cluj Napoca Downtown

I’m currently staying at this beautiful hotel for Untold festival and I got to say this hotel blew my mind! The whole property is new, clean and immaculately spotless! Service was impeccable at the onset of our checking in. The counter staff are friendly and helpful. One incident to note was that we drove and our car was too long and luckily a kind gentleman rushed out to the carpark lift to stop us in time, and directed us to park at the sidewalk instead. Breakfast is amazing - a decent spread of eggs (my favourite), fruits galore (it’s their peach and prune season), cheeses (I lost count.. was it 10, 15 types?), and cakes (another one I lost count, but who’s counting 😊..the cheesecake, cream puff and brownies are to die for). The service crew (in particular the beautiful and friendly blonde Romanian lady who wished us a great time at Untold) greeted us and were attentive to our needs. Rooms wise I got to say, being a globetrotter, the room is comfortable, and very very very clean. Pillows are fluffy yet solid (I know it’s conflicting but the strength of the pillow is important to support the neck), and the toilet (thanks to the pop hits playing as the background music), and the unblocked view from the window to see the chapel across the skyline). Hence if you ever come to Untold or just decide to sight see this beautiful city (oh did I tell you Romania has just joined EU? Congrats!) I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay. You definitely won’t regret making this choice!

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every area. Don’t let the courtyard title dissuade you, this is nicer than most Sheraton hotels in the USA. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Cluj. Great location for being walkable, while still having easy access to the roads and on-site parking.

Ridiculosly small rooms, with not space to hang sweaters or pants, not soundproofed doors - you can hear every step in the hallway, unfriendly window view on 4th floor. However, very clean rooms, nice breakfast atmosphere. The receptionists on service both days were very friendly snd tried to be of help. Food was not excellent for this kind of hotel though, and the staff started to take the buffet out 13 minutes before closing time which felt frustrating. Its a good hotel but not worth the fuss and the money.
