We’ve been staying at Altın Yunus for a week with a few more days to go. While the location is stunning and some staff are truly kind, several serious issues have made our stay disappointing—and we’ve decided not to extend it. Let’s start with the positives: The view from our room is absolutely beautiful. While the rooms are definitely dated, they’re not in terrible shape—acceptable considering the age of the hotel. The breakfast staff and kids club team are genuinely warm, friendly, and welcoming. Their kindness stood out and made a positive impact on our stay. However, these positives were outweighed by ongoing problems: Housekeeping is poor and inconsistent. Our room is never fully cleaned (we found trash swept under the bed), and basic amenities like water, towels, and toiletries are almost never restocked unless we specifically ask—multiple times. Today was particularly frustrating. We asked the housekeeper at 10 AM to clean the room while we were at breakfast. She said she’d come after finishing a few rooms. We returned at 3 PM—nothing was done. When I followed up, she said she still couldn’t come. I explained that I had a baby who needed to nap, and at least requested clean towels. No one brought anything. The Wi-Fi is nearly useless in the rooms. It barely connects and doesn’t support even basic use. For a resort of this size and cost, that’s unacceptable. Air conditioning is weak throughout the hotel. The system in the rooms is central—you can’t control it, and it’s not strong enough to keep the room cool during summer. Hallways have no AC at all, and worst of all, they shut off the AC in the breakfast area after 10:30 AM, seemingly to push guests out. That’s extremely inconsiderate, especially when temperatures are above 40°C and many guests are elderly, pregnant, or traveling with children. One day I forgot to bring milk for my baby and asked the restaurant for a cup. They charged 120 TL. That level of pricing for something so basic is simply unfair. Finally, I want to mention a major concern: the F&B manager at the beach/pool restaurant is extremely rude. Not only was he dismissive toward us, but I witnessed him speaking very harshly to his staff multiple times in front of guests. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. That kind of treatment toward employees is unacceptable anywhere—especially at a family resort. Altın Yunus has potential: a great location, beautiful views, and some truly kind team members. But without real improvements to housekeeping, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and staff management, I cannot recommend it.
