Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel Golf & Spa

Always a great stay. Hotel is in a lovely quiet location and so was my room 247 which looks out onto trees at the back of the hotel. Hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean. My room had a new TV in it which was much better than before. I love using the spa facilities and that is why I choose that hotel over others. Complimentary tea, coffee and canned water available in the room, also an ironing board and iron. Had a lovely peaceful stay and will always return.

Came here for an evening meal with famiy. Very good food. Great service from Erin & Lily who were helpful & polite. Will definitely return. Only problem is the review requires star ratings for the rooms but we didn't stay at the hotel so gave average ratings.

Meals very tasty and plentiful: serious staff shortages in the bar areas and one untrained girl on arrival where we waited over 20 minutes for two coffees: we were a party of golfers and staff were nowhere to be seen: does management not liaise with golf sales?? On our departure day we would have liked drinks/food before travelling but told no food. This is clearly a management issue and certainly a huge revenue miss which in my opinion needs addressing. Overall we enjoyed our stay and managed to avoid the incoming bad weather:
